DH's cousin named her little girl Ymmija (pronounced ee-MY-ja). The dad's name is Jimmy, but she added an "a" to the end to make Ymmij more feminine.
I actually really like the SOUND of that name, but I would have spelled it differently for sure. I always think about the kids I went to school with whos teachers butchered their name in attendance. My friends name is Bryn which isn't that crazy but people would send her mail that said "bryan" as if she didn't know how to spell her own name on a form.
I used to work where the baby names list was compiled...every year, someone also names their kid "Espn" and there were always a couple of "microsofts" and things like that.
The top 10 names get all the coverage, but the bottom 100 or so is where all the fun is.
Emergency ileostomy 11/28/10, CF dx on 12/3/10 and ileostomy takedown 1/24/11, feeding tube placed 7/1/11...still going strong!

I don't see what the big deal is. Who cares what someone names their kid. It's not your kid so what does it matter? I think it's sweet to name the kid Jimmy backwards. As long as the parents are happy - thats all that matters.

Because it's cruel and it can affect their opportunities in life and their ability to get along in the world. A name is important, not something to be all "aw look y'all this'll be cool and ***"
You know...the letters S and N and Y look really fun. Maybe I can name my baby Synys...yeah. Or not. I really feel like that is what people do though. Like a bad game of Scrabble.

Noooo parents really need to think responisbly about naming thier children. They are the ones that have to deal with it in school and work and sending resumes out, etc. Parents need to QUIT being selfish with these retarded names. Not saying everyone should be named Jimmy ans Susie but damn ... Give the kid a break...
Re: Another name for the backwards, um, "trend"

I must point out, it's DH's cousin. I don't claim her.
Poor baby
Let's see...if we did the same we'd name our child Elleiram or Ordnassela...greaaaatttt
I think we'll stick to our current choices.

New trend? Not for me, it's not.
Pardon my political incorrectness, but that is flat out retarded.
She should be flogged.
When I was a teacher, there was a student in a nearby school who's name was La-a. Guess how it was pronounced. Ladasha. Classic.
I worked with someone who named their kid that. It never even occured to me that it was James backwards.
