I had a dr appt yesterday and my dr said my LO is measuring a week ahead. I'm getting another u/s (yay) at 36w to better size LO up.
She was asking me how big I was and DH when we were born. Does that have anything to do with how big your child is going to be?
Re: Does your size when born have anything to do with your baby's size?
Yes. In fact, one of the best indicators of baby's birth weight is that of the parents (historically, I don't have a study to back it up, it's just what I've seen and heard from multiple OBs, midwives, and moms).
My BFP Chart
A lot of times, it's indicative of your LO's size, but not necessarily. DH and I were both around 7 lbs, and DS was 9 lb! DD was 3 weeks early and 7lb?. BUT, both of them are small now. Both are in the 50% for height and weight.
I don't think it would. I was 8lbs 13oz at birth and 20 inches. DH was 9lbs 12 ozs and 19and1/2 inches.
DS#1 was 7lbs 8ozs and 221/4inches. DS#2 was 7lbs 6ozs and 23 and1/2 inches. My kids weren't near mine or my husbands weight or length.
Hope that helps!
Hey no fair! I'm measuring a week and a half ahead and I don't get a growth u/s!
Well, I was a big baby - 9lb4oz...and 2 weeks early! DH was late and was just 7lb?oz...I think this guy will be around 8 lbs.
Honestly I don't know..my OB has never mentioned it..
But, I do know our LO is measuring small. I was 6lbs something and DH was 6lbs something...sooo...maybe? As long as baby is healthy and happy IDC how big he is..however a 6lb baby would be wonderful for a natural birth. LOL.
I think it does, but I have no science to back that up.
I was born 7lbs 9oz at 40 weeks, and DS was born 7lbs 9 oz at 38 weeks. DH was a big baby, 10+ and they told us DS was going to be a monster if I went to my due date or beyond. I'm glad he came on his own and average sized
He has taken after DH and is a very big little boy.
My brother and I were both right at 8 pounds (he was born 3 weeks early, I was born 2 weeks early), DD was 8 lbs 13 oz (born almost 2 weeks late). This LO is also measuring big, so it does seem to be a bit of a trend in our family.
