3rd Trimester

Dr. Appt today - Bye Bye VBAC!

I had my 34w appointment today and baby girl is measuring big!  I measured about 35w (although I know it's normal to be slightly more or less).  My dr. was feeling my belly and thinks this baby is going to be big - possibly as big as or bigger than DD (who was 10lbs!)  Indifferent

We have my c-section scheduled for June 18th, which will be 39w exactly.  I asked him if I go into labor on my own if he'd jump to a c-section or let me try for a VBAC.  He said that due to the size of the baby (and I'm only 5'4" and not a large girl PP) that he wouldn't feel comfortable trying a vaginal birth.  A part of me was hoping all along for one, but honestly what girl would like to think about trying to push out a 11lb baby!  Tongue Tied

On the bright side - my  nurse told me today that I'm their best OB patient regarding watching their weight.  Granted, I have to say this is a small local hospital so there aren't a ton of pregnant women now, but that makes me feel a little better!  =)

  • omg this is me! I have big babies and im only 5'2'' very small frame as well. My doctor had this same plan with me but with how far into the pregnancy i am now shes most likely too big, and my body would reject the labor just like last time. Good luck to you and ur csection! mine is on the 3rd of june

  • Wow!!! 10lbs?!?!?! I would gladly have a c-sec.

I have to have one next week because my last baby turned breech when I was 10cm dilated and started having heart problems.

Good luck!!!! I hope that this one is smaller Big Smile

  • I've heard the recovery is MUCH easier when you don't have the labor beforehand.  That is the primary reason that I was hoping for a VBAC because I was so sore and stiff for a week after.  It is kind of nice to think I can go in, lay there and get my baby! :)

exactly this is what im looking forward to the most! And my wonderful doctor made sure i got the first section in the morning so i could have the whole day and most likely eat lunch!  Except i have to be at the hospital by 5:30 in the morning.. eww

  • I didn't even bring up VBAC with my doctor for the same reason - big babies run in my family and I'm petite.  DD was 8lbs 14oz and I worked out the whole pregnancy, walked, and only gained 25lbs and wore size 2 maternity clothes.  At 36w the doctor said she doesn't think I'm going to have an 8+ lb baby again, but I think she's crazy - this baby feels bigger to me than DD did.

I'm scheduled for a c/s on May 24, at 38w6d (same gestation as DD).  I hope recovery is easier without being in labor too!

  • Im 5 ft and had a 9 pounder for my first, so Im curious to see how big LO is. I asked my dr  how big he thought she was and he gave me the average baby size, not how big he thought she actually was. Im having my c section one week from today May 21st...actually one week from right now I will be holding my baby girl! I also got the first one of the morning and have to be in at 5:30 but at least I don't really need to worry about getting bumped!
