I was sooo excited to finally be in the 3rd trimester! I feel so much better than I did in my 1st pregnancy (won't scare you- bad from start to finish- except for my fantastic son).
So I go to the OB for my glucose test and appt and my BP over the last few appointments went from 110/70 to 120/80 to now 130/80. I had pre-e last time and looks like my body is heading that way again I didn't have protien in my urine which is great so it's not pre-e yet and everything looked good with the baby which is the most important thing.
However, the doctor wants me out of work and resting at home. Work will be fine with it so I feel lucky about that. My OB flipped when he heard I've been carrying a stroller up and down stairs on the subway every day to get to/from work (my son's daycare is near my work). His words were "you're done-over-finished- got it?"
My dh can drop our son off in the morning but can't leave work that early to get him. It will cost me a fortune to hire someone for 10-12 weeks to pick him up everyday! I don't have any family that could help me. So much for reducing my stress! Anyone have any suggestions?
Oh yeah- we also have our apartment on the market and wanted to move before the baby arrived. Guess that is over too.
Re: I cross into the 3rd trimester & have bad OB appt immediately!
I would think you could just walk him? He looks old enough to not be in a stroller..? But maybe not?
Sorry you've had a bad start to the 3rd tri. I had a great 1st/2nd tri and 3rd is horrible. Just exhausted, sore, reflux, headaches, shakes, rapid heart rate etc. etc. And my OB said I'm one of the healthiest pregnant women he's ever taken care of (30yr practice/over 6,000 babies). Not sure if I'm flattered or not. lol.
I tried that a few times- unfortunately I live 1/2 mile from the subway. Sometimes my son is great walking home and sometimes he is so tired that he sits down on the ground and I have to put him in the stroller. I never know when he'll have a tired day- that's why I still bring the stroller.
As for handicap access - the NYC subway is horrible! I am lucky to have an elevator at the station where I get off for work but there are no elevators near my home station. In fact, there are no elevators anywhere nearby- even if I got off 1 or 2 stops later or earlier. Stairs are the only option. You'd think someone handicapped would sue over it or something - but there is nothing!

How long is your walk? Did the doctor give you a reason why you have a weight lifting restriction? It must be related to the problems you had with your first pg, right?
I still carry my almost 40 lbs DD around occasionally (although I can't do it for more than a minute). I have to lift and pull huge bags of product for work every day. I'd say they're in the 30-40 lb range. My OB hasn't said anything besides asking if I want a note to be on a lifting restriction. A stroller is pretty light. There must be a reason why he thinks that is such a huge problem.

I was going to say this as well, go to BRU and buy their cheap umbrella stroller, it weighs next to nothing and it holds up pretty well.
I agree with PP's;
1.) Umbrella stroller.. the weigh next to nothing and you can get them for under $20.
2.) If you are not allowed to work then why spend the $ on/time going to and from daycare?
Either way I wish you luck and hope you find a soultion! Welcome to 3rd tri!!
I already use an umbrella stroller that only weighs 12 pounds. I think my doctor's concern is that he doesn't want me doing anything that will make me breathe hard - like climbing stairs. Add in carrying a 12 pound stroller plus my work bag (so like 20 pounds altogether) and holding a toddler's hand and it's too much for my body.
I haven't had any problems up until now but my pre-e was very serious last time - my kidneys shut down and I almost died so they have been concerned since day 1 with me. I'm old too- 43 - so that adds to the high risk aspect.
As for keeping my son home- I could do that but 1) I still have to pay to keep his spot (it took 15 months to get off the waitlist in the first place) and 2) I want him to keep his routine and 3) I'm supposed to have no stress and keeping him home all day would be more work than me physically going to work.
Thanks everyone- I think I just needed to vent a little because I'm so frustrated by my own body. My dh is great and will step up and we'll just have to hire someone to help out. I'm not fooling around when it comes to my health and my baby's health- it was bad last time and I want it to be better this time.
