Does anyone know this. I tried googling this and found nothing other than, "prenancy and parenting expert."
I am soo very annoyed by the WTE in the toddler years book especially. I am also annoyed by a friend who believes her views on nursing beyond 1 year and in not so many words said that it is unhealthy for me to be still nursing and that she goes by the "research" that says BM loses its nutritional value. I responded with "where did you read this, because I read it in WTE and that has like a 1994 Copywrite date....even the updated version....I think that is really old research." "Oh" she said, "because I'm pretty sure I read that in the AAP book." "WEll the AAP actually says 'AT LEAST' one year and the WHO says 2," I said. "Oh well I'll have to look into that cause I'm pretty sure that is what it said." She says. "Yeah, double check that cause you might be thinking of the WTE book."
Uhg! Sorry, I'm just so annoyed that I had to vent that...but I also really want to know what H. Murkoff's credentials are.
Re: what are Heidi Murkoff's credentials?
As far as I can see, she was a free lance writer prior to writing all of the WTE books. Apparently, during her first pregancy she couldn't find any books to answer her questions so she decided to write them.
It was Murkoff's pregnancy with Emma, eldest of Arlene and Howard Eisenberg's five grandchildren, that inspired the first collaboration by this mother and two daughters, "What to Expect When You're Expecting" (Workman, 1984). Far from nine months of nonstop joy and giddy anticipation, Murkoff found pregnancy to be a jittery experience. The books she consulted kept hammering her over the head with how happy she should be, while what she wanted was straight, unvarnished information.
But their literary agent balked when the three women submitted a proposal for a true-facts pregnancy book. Eisenberg had a strong track record as a free-lance writer and textbook author, and Murkoff had dabbled in free-lancing as well. Hathaway had a degree in nursing. But none boasted the medical credentials traditionally associated with pregnancy books.
I'm still asking the same about Pantley.
Can't find any other than being a mom.
