Bedtime conversations with DD

Last night she was telling me all about a book they read at daycare about a woman who buys a live chicken & takes it home in a bag, etc.  (no idea what book this is) So she started asking why someone would buy a chicken in a bag?

(insert mom pondering whether to reeeaally answer this one or not)

So I tell her "well, when people buy chicken to eat from a farm, they usually give you the live chicken in a bag and you take it home, make it dead, clean it all up and cook it."

DD "eeeew, like dead dead like your dad is dead?"  "yes, Samantha"

"Oh.  And then we pull the legs off and cook them and eat them like I eat them because they're yummy.  I like chickens, they taste good!  Can we buy one in a bag? "   "No Sam, we buy ours at the store"  "oh.  Darnit.  Ok"

Totally not where I expected her to go with that.  I was betting we'd be done eating chicken.
