When did your doctor tell you to stop? Mine wants me to stop after 10 weeks, but I'm concerned because I've heard others take it through the first trimester. When are you stopping?
Mine said to just run through the 90 day supply he originally ordered. I started taking them at 3w4d, so 90 days will put me through the end of first tri.
Wow, he was fast today! He says The placenta really takes over by 7 weeks and we continue it for one additional wk. By 8 weeks the placenta is fully functioning.
I am taking progesterone and met with my dr. yesterday. I am almost 11w and he wants me to continue until my next ultrasound on May 24th. I have had continuous cramping this whole pregnancy so I am happy to keep taking it.

My doctor said 11-12 weeks. He said I could safely come off at 11, but if I wanted I could stay for another week just to make sure the placenta is churning out the hormones it needs to.

Thanks Kendrick. That makes me feel a lot better! I guess 10 weeks is actually somewhat conservative. I'll probably take it until the bottle runs out, which will be ~11 weeks.
My previous pregnancy my OB was going to have me go through the end of first tri. This one, my RE told me stop right at 8 weeks. Since I had some left over, I'm still taking it until my 1st OB appt next week at 9w and see what they say.
I was on 200mg 2x/day. @ 8 weeks she took me to 200mg 1x/day. I'll do bloodwork at 10 weeks and if my progesterone is above 20 they'll take me off completely. If not, we'll continue, although I'm not sure for how long.
Re: If you're on Prometrium or progesterone supplements
I'm supposed to stop when I hit 8 weeks. I also was surprised at stopping that early, but my RE is an expert in his field.
I will also get my OB's take when I meet with him for the first time on Monday.
