Last summer and this pring, dd's wooden swing set has been attracting bees..no nest to be found! We have triend spraying. Do you think it neeeds to be stained? would that he;p? The first summer we had it, we had no problems
Sounds like carpenter bees. We also have cedar siding and we've been having a horrible time dealing with them. Every year they get worse. You can do some reading online about ways to deal with them, but so far we haven't been successful.
What I've found to work the best, is to hit one with a tennis racket, and then spray it with wasp spray. The bad thing is that this barely puts a dent into the number that we have of them, they can be hard to swat, and I can't spray when the kids are around. If you find a way to deal with them, please let me know!
Dai, we just had a pest control company come out. They sprayed and put some powder into the holes. They were gone within 24 hours. We have to research how to keep them away though. He said it was the worst he's ever seen, and was clearly an ongoing problem (we just bought last year).
Re: Bees attracted to swingset?
What kind of bees? Are there little holes in the swingset?
I ask b/c we just had a huge problem with carpenter bees at our home - they like soft woods, like our cedar siding.
They're big, with black abdomens.
