After ET ?

Hi gals...I haven't been on here at all lately. Our cycle is coming up to a close with 5dt taking place tomorrow!! Can't believe this day is here. We've got 6 embies going strong so far - I pray we'll get 2 blasts to transfer + some frosties! I'm still waiting for the call from the clinic today with an update and ET time.

Anyhoo...after ET, did you stick with bed rest for 24-48hrs afterward? I've just been told to rest for 24hrs, no strenuous activity, no lifting things over 10lbs, no saunas/hot tubs, etc...

Our clinic is 2hrs from home, and I would think I'd be okay to sit in a car for 2+ hrs if DH is driving right? Not like I need to stay lying down or anything?

My clinic does not require bedrest - they just say to stay home and "take it easy" for a couple days. I would think you would be fine making the drive home after the transfer, but if you're unsure ask your RE. Good luck!!

Like you, I was just told to take it easy and that is what I did.  No bed rest was required.  I just came home and watched some TV and had a low key afternoon.  I went back to work the next day.

You'll be fine sitting in the car with DH driving.  You can always recline your seat if you will feel better lying down.

Opinions seem to differ from RE to RE/clinic to clinic.  My RE was very much like yours - no strenuous activity for 24 hrs but during that time, I didn't have to do bed rest or anything like that.  Also, we had a 2 hr drive between our home and the RE's office.  He wasn't concerned at all with the long drive.  I basically just relaxed the day of my transfer and was back to my normal schedule the following day.  GL tomorrow!

My first clinic did not believe in bed rest so I didn't do it with IVF #1.

But, my second clinic was all about bed rest - 72 hours of it to be exact.  I did strict bed rest the day of ET and the day after and modified the next two days.

I would think you would be OK for the ride.  Good luck!

My clinic does not require bedrest. I just went home and was lazy all day, spending most of it on the couch watching TV. I went back to work the next day.

Two of the clinics we interviewed are a little on the extreme side for bedrest - though they both said that it's just so you don't regret anything you did.

They want bedrest for 48-72 hours, and then another 4-5 days of modified bedrest. So about a good week off from work and on the couch. A bit overkill if you ask me.

I had to do 3 days of bed rest following ET.  My RE's office is about an hour away from my home.  The nurse said to recline the seat on the ride home.  Good luck with your ET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My RE requires 3 days of strict bed rest after ET.  It is the worst part to me of the whole IVF process, but I do it.  It kills my back to be laying down so much.
