Infertility

Tired.all.the.time.

No matter how much sleep I get. This is me, I am used to it, but it sucks. I always feel tired, but I don't have any luck with napping and I usually have troubled sleep at night.

I used to think it was work stress, but I am not working right now and I am still dealing with it.

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas of feeling more energetic (I do workout on a pretty regular basis, so I don't think that helps much) and/or getting a more "restful" sleep??

Re: Tired.all.the.time.

  • I could have written this post!  ...except for the working out part.  I've ashamed to say I've been rather sedentary since starting IVF.  (so weeks of doing nothing!)  But yeah, I'm still pretty tired all the time.  And I can fall asleep at night without a problem, but staying asleep in another thing.

Curious for any advice that's offered.

    Hope you're feeling better soon!!

  • Maybe you are vitamin D deficient.  Have your doctor run the b/w to see and then they can advise you on the appropriate dose.  I have a friend that was deficient and her doctor ran b/w and she started taking like 3000 IU a day and said she feels amazing.  Most old literature will tell you that 400 IU is the max you should take per day but there have been a bunch of articles in the last few years discussing how out dated that is and if you get b/w done then your doctor can tell you the right amount for you.  Anyways I just thought I would mention this because she can't stop raving about how wonderful she feels.

Also you may need to get your TSH checked if you haven't had it done recently.

Thanks for the idea!! I have been checked for thyroid issues and anemia more times than I can count. I always come back normal. This is something I hadn't heard for though, I will check into it. Thanks again, sweetie!!

  • Have you had your thyroid levels tested?

Thyroid and anemia - both came back w/in normal range. Multiple times, as this has been ongoing issue, so I have requested them to be checked a few times. :(

  • Hrm. I might have to check into the vitamin D thing too. I can sleep ALL THE TIME. I easily sleep 10-12 hours a day. Good sleep, too. And I yawn all day long when I'm awake too. My thyroid came back normal too, so I just thought I must really like sleep! It drives my DH nuts how much sleep I get...but I can't help it! If I don't get that much sleep, I'm exhausted! I tell my DH and friends that I am banking sleep now because I know I won't get that much once we are lucky enough to have a baby!

  • For your trouble falling asleep at night, have you read about Melatonin?  It's a natural supplement and I thought it did work. (as I write this at 1:36am, funny, but I'm not taking anything in the middle of my ivf cycle)

I have heard of it, but never used it. Thanks for reminding me. This is another option!
