Babies: 9 - 12 Months

i have some dumb daycare questions

so, DH was staying home with DD, but he got offered a job and he is going back to work.

i have some probably dumb questions, but here goes:

1.  what do you send LO to daycare in?  i'm guessing she needs to wear pants.  are shorts okay?

2. if you make your own baby food, any suggestions on what to transport it in? and do you just take it out of the freezer and put it in the container frozen?

3. do you re-use the same "in case" outfits so you don't have to label a ton of clothes, or do you label all their clothes?

TIA!

Re: i have some dumb daycare questions

  • 1. a onesie and pants.  as soon as it warms up here i will start to put her in shorts.  sometimes she goes in a dress, but again-it's been too cold here for the most part.  ETA: also socks and recently shoes.  Basically I just dress her like we were going out for errands.

    2. I just put it in a tupperware container and label it (C-fruit, C-veggies). I try to take it out the night before, but most times I end up just defrosting it in the morning.

    3. I just leave an outfit there that is labeled.  We haven't had to use it yet, but I think when we do I will just wash it and send the same one back.

  • It's still chilly here, so DD wears pants everyday... but she'll wear shorts and dresses once it's nice enough.

I make my own food - i bought baby cube to store and freeze the food in. Love them! I bring it frozed, they thaw, feed it to DD and send it back. I gave them instructions to return the containers tho since most ppl don't make their own food.

i reuse the outfits -- they're typically outfits that I wouldn't really dress her in if I were with her. like her gender neutral outfits and stuff I don't love...

baby cubes -- I got them on amazon.

    frozen not frozed -- eesh!

  • Congrats on him getting offered a job!

She goes in comfy clothes that she can move in and I don't mind getting super filthy. Most of the time it's a onesie with a Tshirt or hoodie over it and pants because she is crawling.  I would also suggest non-skid socks.  Put an extra change of clothes in the diaper bag.

I bought her a lunch box! its insulated with little frozen packs. All her food goes into those tiny Ziploc containers.

She is in a small in home DC. So labeling hasnt been an issue. Im no help here.

I definitely have some outfits that they wear at daycare only.  Mostly because I know they are going to get dirty.  For now, they wear pants but once it gets warm here, they will be in shorts.

I dont make my own food but I do bring purees at the beginning of each week.  And eventually once they are on table food only, I will be bringing that as well.

They have definitely gone through their extra clothes, more than once.  And yes, I bring the same ones back.  They are daycare emergency clothes.  There was a good week where I would play a game with myself to see if they would be in the same clothes I dropped them off in.  it is going to happen.

I send DD to daycare in pants, onsie and sweatshirts (basic layers).  When it gets warm out I will probably send her in shorts occassionally.

I have multiple "in case" outfits that I send to daycare (see my post about diaper recommendations) and rotate them in and out.   I buy stretchy pants and onesies at Target cheaply or send in the outfits we don't care for.  Sometimes DD comes home in some wild outfits that don't match - she honestly goes through several changes a day.

  • thanks ladies.

i feel like such a parenting n00b all over again.

  • 1. Whatever he would normally wear at home, keeping in mind the fact that he may get to go outside, so he should have some layers (such as leaving a hat or light jacket in his cubby). In his room, they don't get outside time b/c some of the babies are too young, but when he moves up in the next few months he will. I usually don't dress him in his nicer, brand new clothes...save those for out and about.

    2. I have a few smaller tupperware/munchkin containers that I use just for his food. I do defrost it at home b/c they don't use a microwave at ours...just a bowl of warm water to warm it up to room temp.

    3. I have a few outfits that are not my faves that I keep in his cubby.

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.

    1.  I usually send her in pants and a onesie. Sometimes she wears a sleeper or a dress, but my husband is afraid her legs will get cold if she wears a dress, so usually pants. I'm sure shorts are fine.

    2. I don't make my own, sorry!

    3. I labeled her clothes at first, but now I don't worry about it. They have shelves with spots for each kid's stuff, and I just keep her outfits there. I'm not really worried about them mixing up her clothes with other kids' clothes. They're pretty organized.

    TIA!
