Wow, that seems a bit extreme. Nobody says that the party needs to be over the top. It's a celebration of your childs birth, it should be celebrated every year. What a whacko!
That's sad. I have a 2.5 year old. His first 2 bday parties have been at the house. We have had family and a few friends. Now, he has a lot more friends so we are looking at doing something out of the house. I can't wait to see him on that day! It will be very special.

If you read the whole post, what she was saying is that she's not going to have a BIG huge to-do every year (with lots of money spent, bouncy balls, etc...), but she will celebrate her child's birthday every year.
I agree. I didn't have a huge party every year and I didn't feel deprived. That being said, of COURSE we will celebrate by child's birthday every year! Sometimes though, it will just be family or a small get together.

Happy and healthy are most important. If her child is happy and is healthy, he/she won't miss a cake and party.
I think she means once the kid is school aged and he wonders why everyone else gets birthday parties and he doesn't. What will the parents say? Because we don't like going to birthday parties, therefore you can't have a birthday party. And I'm sure the kid will resent the fact that he won't be able to go to his friends parties since the parents are so against them.
Re: Birthday post from 3-6
Why do you feel sorry for her kid?
