A little background...
after the 1st appt. the orthotist said he didn't feel it was necessary to band DD but would if we insisted. I said that I wanted some more time to stare at her head and think about it and we go back this morning.
Most of my friends and family think that she doesn't need it. She is more uneven left to right. The main issue is the two front plates. She has very very minor flatness on the back which seems to be rounding out.
I've attached the latest pics of taken of her. Do you think I should push for the helmet to try and round her head out as much as possible or let nature take it's course.
TIA

Re: 2nd consult wit the orthotist this morning re: helmet
I wouldn't worry about it. She's still young and the more mobile she becomes over the next couple months...it will round out on it's own.
Even looking at those pictures for uneveness, I have a hard time seeing it. She does have a prominent forehead and, as the moment, a really high hair line, but I wouldn't notice either if you hadn't asked.
That being said, if you've been agonizing this long and can't make up your mind, if I were you, I'd do the band. If you do it, the worst that happens is you deal with a band for a bit (and from everything I read, it's not THAT much of a hassle) and the resulting change is minimal. If you don't do anything, the worst that can happen is that you're going to stare at her head every day for the rest of her life wondering "What if?" That sounds like torture.
This. ??
DH: 31, no issues
4-6/2012 100mg of Clomid + trigger + IUI/TI = BFN
7/2012 150mg of Gonal-f + trigger + IUI = BFN
8/2012 Surprise unmedicated BFP!! Due May 8, 2013
All of this.
Honestly, I would do the band. My son had a DOC band for 5 months, since he had moderate-severe plagiocephaly and brachycephaly. We saw fantastic results.
His pedi had said early on that everything would even out on its own. It didn't. I'm really glad that we went with our gut and did the band while he was still young.
I can see the few things that you are concerned about. While it's not the worse case, I'm sure, it would be torture to not do it and then wonder for the rest of her life if you should have. Plus, 6 months is the ideal time to do it, since their heads are the most malleable. If you decided in several months that you wanted to do it then, it would be a lot more difficult to see great results. Their head growth slows down a lot as you approach 9-12 months...
I know this is difficult. It's your decision to do what you feel is best. Whatever you decide, I really hope that it works out for you and your family!!
You took the words out of my mouth. I don't really notice it. It could still change, plus she is a girl so her hair will be longer and it is harder to notice. However, if you are always going to wonder, you could just do it.
