Would you take your 4-5 year old to this?

Yo-Yo Mah is playing w/the local symphony next April for a few shows and I want to maybe do a mothers day thing out of it- me, mom, and Samantha.

Ooooooor would you leave the kid home?

Re: Would you take your 4-5 year old to this?

  • Depends. Outdoor kind of thing: sure. Indoor: I'd have to think about it. Would depend on the child's personality.
  • My 4 year old- maybe. DD loves anything to do with music, so she might like it.

Sam yes. She loves the symphony right?

  • Loading the player...
  • If she is into music and stuff then sure, it totally depends on the kid.
  • I agree that it depends on the child and the venue.

  • Indoors.  She could definitely sit through it ok, I just don't know if she'd LIKE it.

  • I agree with the others, it depends on the child.  Allison can't sit still for 2 minutes.  She loves going to church though, because she loves the music.  (we are Catholic, so it is boring but she sits there waiting for music)

My parents took my sister and me to the symphony when we were that age and we did fine.  I probably would not take my DD, I don't think she would appreciate it or enjoy it and it would be rough on me to wrangle her.  By next year when she is 5, it might be totally different.  But there are plenty of kids who would probably handle it just fine at 4-5 years old.
  • I would but my DD takes violin & has sat through a few recitals OK already so I know she'd do fine.

  • My DS would love it, my DD would not.  If she likes music, I would take her.  Otherwise, I'd skip it.

  • We have been taking Eric to the symphony and live theater since he was three years old (my dad got season tickets for him!) and he LOVES it. That said, he begged us to start piano lessons at age three and has been into all things Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart since age two so he is a different kind of kiddo :)

  • OMG, lucky girls!  I love YYM.  Absolutely worship him.  His interpretation is extra emotional.  YYM + Beethoven = bliss

I would take her if they allow it.  Most of our fine arts venues have an age minimum of 12 or so.

I LOOOVE him!!!  My mom already emailed me back with a big fat YES lol  I'll have to call & find out about age limits but I'm pretty sure it's fair game.  I just want to hug him, he's so sweet.  He channels the music so well it gives me goosebumps.
