We started weaning from formula 2 weeks ago. The transition is nearly complete. He has 1/4 formula/3/4 milk bottles in the a.m. and before bed and straight milk through the day.

Pedi said to start at 11 or 11 1/2 months. Does anyone know why this might be recommended? I have enough breastmilk to go stoundaround and am not in a rush to switch to cows milk.
Trying for #2 since July 2010 BFP 8/1/10, missed m/c, D&C 9/15/10. BFP 1/8/11, chemical pregnancy. BFP 3/4/11, measured behind all along, no more HB 4/18/11. D&C 4/29/11. HCG didn't drop, Repeat D&C 6/17/11; confirmed molar pregnancy 6/23/11. Forced break, including two Hysteroscopies in October to remove retained tissue. BFP 12/29/11! Betas @ 10 dpo = 85, 14 dpo= 498, 22 dpo = 7242 Heard HB 1/24/12. 144 bpm!
DD#1 the pedi told me at her 9 month appt to offer milk once a week for a month, then a couple times a week,at 10 months, then once a day at 11 months, It worked like magic. Ironically, though, when I weaned atr 14 months she lost weight and I was told to stop milk and put her on some super calorie formula.
With the twins I put a couple tbsp in their cereal occasionally, but will start to offer it occasionally aroun 10.5 months. I am actually looking forward to weaning at a year, so I want to get them ready. I won't wean until they drink milk happily. I originally thought I'd BF til 18 months, but these two are killing me!

Pedi told us to start the transition to milk a week before his 1st birthday (half whole milk and half formula - and decrease over the duration of the week).
His 12 month appointment is a week after his birthday.
We started the transition last week, 1/4 milk & 3/4 formula. This week he's doing half and half, next week he'll do 3/4 milk and 1/4 formula. We're going to Florida a few days before his birthday and I don't want to have to take formula with us.
We seen the new Pedi at 11 months and she said to "just give it to her" at 12 months. Since I do not have a history with this Dr yet and was a little put off by her (wish I could fully pick a Pedi) I am going by the old one. She said I can start mixing it with formula anytime after 11 months. When she was 11 months and 2 weeks I starting mixing it, after only a few days we went to half and half for a while. She ran out of her last can of formula a few days ago and I did not buy a new can since she will be 1 on Monday.
We are now working on getting rid of the bottle. She only has her bottle before her nap in the morning and one an hour or so before bed. Other than that she drinks only from her sippy and does great.
We will not give milk before 1 year. It doesn't have the same nutrients as formula or breast milk so we don't want it to replace that. We don't give juice or empty calories either.

We started a few weeks ago. She is so not liking it.
Our pedi told us we could introduce after eleven months.
