Going to Throatpunch My OB's Receptionist

"Hi so ure coming for your annual bc I see here that you're due."

"No actually I need a prenatal check-up."

"How do you know you need a prenatal check-up?"

"Well, the 3 positive HPT's I took this weekend and my late period, along with my tender breasts would be a good indication."

"Well those tests aren't always accurate and there could be other reasons for your late period.  And your sore boobs could be PMS."

"I appreciate your concern but how about you stop giving me advice and please give me the appointment that I asked for.  It's lunchtime and my "possibly" pregnant self is quite hungry."

"Ok.....gives me appointment....when was your LMP.  We need it for your chart."

I tell her and then she says "o 30 days..yeah ure probably pregnant."

I reply "thank you for informing me about how my lady parts function." and hung up.  Biatch.

Re: Going to Throatpunch My OB's Receptionist

  • That's horrible! You should speak to the office manager about her "people skills". God knows what else she says to people.

  • Wow. She sounds pleasant...NOT

And I love the term throatpunch, I am going to make an effort to use that one tomorrow!

  • Totally should have asked to speak to the office manager or someone... what a jerk! I would have been a lot worse... My mom was the office manager of my GP... if one of the girls EVER treated someone like that they would be in BIG trouble....
  • I totally agree that she sounds like a hag, but on a side note - since when it is possible to get THREE false positive HPTs?

  • Gah - we must go to the same Dr.

  • What!?!  Who says HPTs aren't accurate?  Most doctors don't even bother to confirm with blood anymore because they are so accurate.  Sounds like a stupid b!tch.  Is it her job to question every pregnant woman that calls?
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • Wow, someone needs to tell this chick that working in a doctor's office doesn't make her a doctor and she should keep her bitchy opinions to herself.

  • If you actually said those things to her, the only one who came across as a biatch was you.  Most OB offices don't just take the patient's word for it when it comes to pregnancy, and independently confirm the pregnancy before any sort of prenatal appointments happen.  ywia.

  • IMO you sound like the one that needs a throatpunch.

WTF would you EVER talk to someone like that?

  • Sounds like she was doing her job, and you were rude to her.

yes, I did.  OP came across as incredibly rude.  And if these responses are any indication of this board's general attitude, then it seems that the bump's reputation of "idiotic, entitled pregnant ladies" is entirely deserved.
