SIX viles of blood for my initial blood work today!
I had my first appointment with the nurse. She gave me a bunch of reading materials, pee cup and we discussed my due date. She gave me a EDD of 12/31/2010, but I pulled out my chart to show her exactly when I ovulated and she agreed that my EDD should be 1/7/2010. I might get an early ultrasound to confirm the date if the Doc can't confirm at my exam next week.
I secretly hope I get an ultrasound so I can see my baby! Otherwise I won;t get an ultrasound until 20 weeks.
Re: SIX viles of blood!
GAWD! six viles! that's just mean
p.s. I love that you corrected the nurse, LOL :-)
I had 9 plus pee in a cup!
I had to do the 1hr glucose too since I was GD last time.

They took 6 viles at my appt. last week as well. And I, too, tried "fighting" with the nurse about my EDD. They had me at 12/30/2010, but I had myself, based on O date, at 1/4/2011. Based on u/s and hb rate, it looked like I was in the middle of the two, so we settled on 1/1/11.
ETA: spelling--whoops!

Commiserating and (gently) correcting grammar...giving that many vials of blood is just vile!

God help me, 16? Are you sure you didn't have to go in for a transfusion?
Please don't let the OB exsanguinate me
you don't win - you tie. I had the RPL work up. also 16 vials.
and for the record the 16 vials was only 3 1/2 ounces. Hardly transfusion worthy.

(Aside: OMG!! 14 weeks!!! No wonder you've become scarce!)
Yeah, I was in a study after my 2nd miscarriage. During my time with them, I gave them no less than 5-10 vials of blood every 2 weeks. When I got pregnant they took 15 or 16. When we had our 3rd loss and did our repeat loss bloodwork, there were 20 vials.
I've given an unbelieveable amount of blood to the medical community over the past 2 years.

It's a GIRL!
I'm not high risk...this is my first pregnancy and the nurse gave us an informational booklet and starred all my appointments if I was going to have an u/s. At 12 weeks I have a NT scan, 16 weeks we find out the gender, 24 weeks is a level 2 sono, 28 weeks is my glucose test and I'm not sure about the u/s and 36 weeks is for EFW.
Thank you! And I'm sorry about all of the blood!
