Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone introduce a pacifier later on?

I tried giving DS a pacifier when he was six weeks old, but he wouldn't take it unless I held it in for him.  He has done well without one, but recently I have been having more trouble getting him to sleep.  I tried giving him a pacifier the other day, and he took it!!!  I'm not sure if I should continue to use it, because I feel like now is the time I would be weaning him from it.

  • Same thing with us. At 9 months DS started taking one b/c it made his teeth feel better. He now sleeps with one everynight. He spits it out soemtimes though so he isn't totally obsessed with it but he def. likes it. I am going to think about weaning off of it by 1.5-2. He only sucks on it in his crib or carseat

  • Trent started liking one in the last month or so, mainly at night. I don't have a problem with it. He is a horrible sleeper and if a pacifier gets him to sleep longer than hour to hour and a half intervals I'm not going to take it away at this point.
  • I would NOT introduce one now if it's sole purpose is to get them to sleep. Opposite of what we did: we took it away 2 months ago when we sleep trained.
