B-12 takers

Just when I thought I was getting lucky with m/s for this pregnancy, pukasoris struck.  Do any of y'all take a B-12 supp?  I cannot take half a unisom because it puts me to sleep at work.  I am curious if anyone has had success with B-12.  If so, how much do you take and do you take it in addition to your prenatals (I assume that is a yes but I figured I would cover all my bases)?

Any m/s suggestions would help.  I am having it worse with this baby than I did with DD.

B6 is the supplement you're thinking of.  I think the standard dose is 25 mg four times per day.  It helps some with m/s, but I would check with your doctor to see what she/he recommends.

Have you tried crystalized ginger or preggie pops? I've had friends get relief from both of these.

  • so, i suck on tic tacs all day long and that helps....

and i wear the sea bands a lot!

i also go to acupuncture which is awesome and really helps!

    good luck.....

  • I did suck on preggie pops sometimes but it is really just pure sugar so I tried not to over do it (my poor teeth).  You can get them at Motherhood Maternity clothing store or online if you can't find them at the drug store.

My midwife told me to eat 6 times/day (small meals/snacks) and the key is that you have to have 1 protein every single time- I was doing just a fruit for a snack and she said you can't eat "non-proteins" without a protein to pair with it.  And you have to be strict about it.  It stopped me from throwing up for about 10 days and I got off track with it on Sunday and I threw up.

    Sample:

I eat at least 1 egg with my breakfast; snack: string cheese and fruit; lunch: sandwhich with veggies, hummus and veggie fake meat (lots of protein); snack: Kashi TLC trail mix granola bar (has nut protein) and fruit etc, etc (you get the picture).

    Good luck

    Thanks for the clarification.

  • B6 is what I've read to help m/s. I do take B12 as well as B6 because I've read they are best taken together.

  • My pnv has extra B6 in it. It's called Citra Natal B Calm and has 75mg of B6. You take 25mg/3times a day. It has been a lifesaver. I was so sick all day before starting it.
