There will be a handful of 1 -2 year olds at DD's first birthday party. I was thinking of making little finger sandwiches (without crusts) - like chicken salad and maybe egg salad plus some cut up grapes and melon. Is this a waste of time or do you think the other mom's would appreciate this? I figure I need to have food for DD so I might as well make it for the other kids too. I will stay away from big allergen items.
Re: Food for toddlers at first bday party?
Oh a cheese platter is a much better idea. Then the adults can partake as well, plus it's super easy!
DD likes tuna salad, so I figure chicken salad would go over well too. But other kids might not like as easily.
at my DDs 2nd b-day i made a buffet just for the kids. and used bowls rather than plates to cut down on the spills.
i served:
goldfish, chicken tenders, cherrios, puffs, grapes cut in half, smiley fries, apple slices, raisins and cheese and crackers.
kept it up high so the parents could serve them what they wanted. worked out great. that way the kids could eat while the parents did.
i will probably do this for all my kids b-days b/c there are always kids that are younger that are not going to eat the burgers and pizza can be a mess for kids under 2 1/2!
My kid eats both egg salad (loves) and chicken salad. He also eats tunafish sandwiches.
OP I would ask the parents if their kid would eat it. The fruit sounds good as well.
