Outed on Fb and pissed! (vent)

I haven't told anybody, except for family and a few close friends that DH and I are expecting, because we miscarried @ 4 weeks last year.  Anyway, a few friends were at the hair salon talking about everybody who is expecting, and somehow my name came up. The next thing I know, the eavesdropper put a big, "Congratulations, I heard the fabulous news! I am so happy for you guys!" on my fb page! Needless to say, I was pissed!!!

This was not the first time that this has happened.  I just hate when people  make your announcement for you!!  I hadn't planned to tell fb friends until we found out the sex. Just wanted to keep it away from cyberspace!

UGH! I would be completely pissed and have a very frank chat with that friend... how annoying... people have no manners sometimes ESPECIALLY when it comes to facebook.

I was very afraid that I would get outed on FB before I was ready.  Serveral of my friends are people I work with and really do not want them to know yet.

So I turned off the ability for people to write on my wall.  They could still comment on things I posted, but they couldn't start thier own  post.

Oh wow...so sorry to hear that!  Definitely delete the comment and disable your wall...maybe you can catch it before too many people find out.  Good luck in the weeks to come!

THIS! I was stalking it all day to make sure that none of my family or friends posted anything. They're all pretty good about it and know we're trying to keep it quiet for a few more weeks. I did have one friend comment on my happy mother's day post asking me what is taking me so long to join the club. If I wasn't already pg, I'd be pretty pissed about that comment! I just ignored it.

Yes, I deleted it after I realized it was there.

I blocked my wall until today when I made an announcement.  I didn't want anyone saying anything so I had it blocked so no one could post.

Some thing similar happened to me too!  I was so aggravated!  Thankfully it was a distant family member that said it, so it didn't really show up on anybody's newsfeed I guess. I announced it today and everyone seemed really surprised. 

 It blows my mind how little people seem to think sometimes though--ugh!

I think you can delete what they wrote, but if not I would tell them to remove it. sorry that happened to you.

I'm so sorry!  It happened to me today, too.  Someone posted on my wall, "I heard you're expecting a baby!"  It was up there for several hours before I found it and deleted it.  I was pissed, especially because I'm only 8 weeks, and I just feel it's way too early to put it out there like that.  

Sorry!  It shocks me that people just post these types of things without thinking...

Totally get where you're coming from. A couple weeks ago DH's STUPID cousin - who I DON'T EVEN KNOW - posted a congratulations message on his page. I was LIVID. FIL got an ear full that afternoon about keeping his GD mouth SHUT until after WE announce to FB.

Still makes my blood boil...

Omg I am so sorry that sucks!!! I totally understanding wanting to wait.. I had a previous m/c as well. We told family and close friends when I was about 8 weeks and then a few more friends at 10 weeks..At 10 weeks I went to my bff b day party and all of a sudden everyone at the party knew I was pregnant!! I had to go around telling everyone that I had not announced it yet on facebook.. luckly no one leaked it and I was able to make my announcement this last week at 12 weeks!  It was so much easier with ds as we lived in another state than everyone so no one found out until the end of the 1st trimester! I would be so pissed off at the person that had the big mouth.. grrr

Ugghh that sucks.  How did they find out you were pregnant?  Did you tell someone?  Did you tell them to keep their mouth shut?  Maybe she assumed it was common knowledge already.

I had only told 2 close friends, but the 2 other ladies are expecting too and I guess she put two and two together. I will never know the whole story, so I told the ALL to stop discussing me!! I have had co-workers ask me, because my students assume I am (I haven't told them either, because I think it's too soon) I just think it's rude for people to ask and then announce it to other people, like it's their news to share!!

I am so, so sorry!!!  I have been worried about this as well -- so just changed my FB settings for the time being so this can't happen.

That same thing happened to me. Luckily as soon as it was posted, I was able to delete it.

What I did for after was activate FB mobile and changed my settings so that if anyone posted something to my wall, I would get a text on my cell. That way if a pregnancy comment was made, I was able to delete it right away.

That sucks I would be pissed too. I don't know how long I will be able to wait to tell everyone.  I told our parents and brothers yesterday because we were gonna see them all together for mothers day and it seemed appropriate.  other than that like 2 people know but i don't know if i can wait 12 more weeks!  I was gonna tell everyone at my daughter's bday party in june.
