Infertility

Update: Fert report in

Thank you, ladies, for all your love and support. DH and I spent some time talking about it, and I feel better. We have more embryos than last time and they are from healthier sperm. We knew this would be a possibility, but it was a shock for me to have the results be so jolting. I am at peace and am a bit excited about moving forward. I was worried to some extent about how to choose which embryos if it were the case that we had mediocre embryos from DH and stellar ones from DS. To some extent I am happy that the decision was made for us, and I have the closure that I felt I needed after the failed IVF cycle in January. Perhaps he will not have a genetic connection, but that does not change how great of a dad he will be. Thank you for being there for me!

  • I am so sorry the results weren't better.  But when he sees your baby/babies for the first time, I am sure DNA will be the furthest thing from his mind.  Hang in there and GOOD LUCK!

I'm glad you're feeling better.  I can imagine even though you'd made the decision to use ds there is still so much hope for some embryos with the connection to both of you.

I hope the embryos you do have grow super strong!

  • Oh, hon...I missed your OP (just went back and read it) this morning. I'm sorry this didn't turn out the way you hoped - but...as you said...this will not change how great of a dad your DH will be, and how great of a mom you will be. You both have the love in your hearts for a child....we all do...otherwise we certainly wouldn't go through all the stuff we do!

Prayers are still being said for you for this cycle....I hope this is the one for you!!! Good luck...

  • I bet he will make a great daddy!
  • Praying for a BFP for you at the end of this cycle! I didn't see your OP, so I don't know what your fert report was like. But, I only had 4 out of 18 eggs be fertilized normally & we transferred the best 2 on day 5 & got pregnant with a singleton. I was annoyed b/c I thought my RE triggered me early & I knew we could have had waaay more mature eggs if he had waited, he confirmed that he did but he was concerned about my risk for OHSS. He reminded me that everything he did was in my best interest & that we only needed one - and he was right! GL sweetie!
  • Im sorry to hear you didnt get the exact news you want, but I am sure he will make an amazing dad regardless of the DNA. :-) I know mine will. :-)

Thanks! That is somewhat similar to our situation. At trigger, my E2 was over 4,000, and the doctor commented this morning when he called with the fert report that he was sorry I didn't have more mature but that they had to trigger me because of my E2 and the risk of OHSS. Right now I'm focusing on feeling better so that my body is in a relative state of peace for the transfer on Tuesday.

  • Glad you feel better!  I'm sure it was a shock and not what you had hoped for but no matter whose DNA is in your babies, those babies will be yours and your DH's!!  Good luck and I hope you get to announce a BFP very soon!

  • Glad you were able to talk to DH and have found some peace with the outcome!  DH will be a wonderful dad whether there is a genetic connection or not!
