My Mother's Day gift is a big fail :)

but I give DH an A for trying.

He told the boys he had a project for them.  So, after dinner, he took them in the basement and a short while later, I could hear him saying, "Stop it, Max",  "Stop!", "Get over here", "Leave that alone" and "Damnit!", among other things.  Then the boys came up with dirty feet and my DH was covered from the waist down in plaster.  It looked like he rolled in cement.

The poor thing tried to make me a stepping stone for my garden.  It all ended up in the garbage, but at least he tried and the laugh it gave me is all I need!  I was cracking up listening to what I was hearing go on in the basement.   I wish I could have watched too!

  • I am laughing at the mental image.  Garden stones are hard.  I did them with the boys for the grandma's this year and you have to work so fast b/c it gets hard so fast.  I ended up having to glue half of the stuff back on after b/c Anthony couldn't press it down quick enough.  I doubt they are going to hold up, but they look cute for tomorrow!

DH was SOL too.  I have a pandora bracelet and have one of the books with beads circled that I like.  He told me this afternoon. I tore about the house looking for that book-I couldn't find it anywhere.  So needless to say-I will probably go with him tomorrow and pick out my own beads!

It was pretty funny.  He doesn't really have the patiebce for that type of thing to even attempt it.  Everytime we try to do something like that with the kids, we end up yelling at them and eachother, which is kind of funny since we're trying to do something kind and memorable.

Did you look online?  I have a Pandora bracelet too and I've looked online at their beads.

    Have a great Mother's Day!

  • I realized it sounded like I was looking for the book. It was him.  He was trying to surprise me by finding the book and taking it to the store to get exactly what I wanted, only a couple of weeks ago, I purged our junk drawer and it got lost in the shuffle.  He was so disappointed he couldn't surprise me.

Oh, I got it now! ;)  That was very sweet of him to try to do that.

See, sometimes it doesn't matter what the gift is or what the outcome is, as long as the effort and thought is there!

  • Very true!  As long as I get to sleep in tomorrow I will be one happy girl!  Jackson's month-long big boy bed transition w/early wake-ups has been kicking my pg butt! lol
  • That was a really nice thing for him to try.  My DH left me for 2 hours with the kids and went shopping for mine, which I am hoping is a gift card for bras, which I desperately need after weaning DS, 2 pregnancies and 2 years of BF in 4 years, but who knows.
