TTC after 35

Had the most cathartic appt with my RE

I had an appt with the RE today - I saw him once for a consult last September and got pregnant before we had a follow up visit, I did go to his office for beta's and a 6 week ultrasound but that was it.

He was so unbelievably kind and came in his office without my chart and said I'm so sorry about your loss my staff filled me in, please tell me what happened and how you are coping.

Then he said he wanted to do a repeated pregnancy loss panel since I've had two miscarriages (though not consecutively) and I have an appt next Thurs for a uterine biopsy and all the bloodwork.  Then he's going to do a saline ultrasound after I get my period.  He said he wasn't inclined to do an HSG  since I got pregnant on my own last time.  I'm just so happy he's doing something and that he actually wants to look into what caused my m/c.  He also told me to start baby aspirin today and take every day.

Can anyone tell me what the uterine biopsy is like? I've heard they are pretty painful.

  • Awesome docs are .... well, awesome!  Glad he's being proactive and caring.  Sorry I don't have any info about the biopsy.  GL and I hope you get some answers.

  • So glad the doctor is like that! There are so many that are not. I had one of those biopsies and there was some pain but not excrutiating or anything. Afterward I felt just a little crampy. I believe they advised me to take an OTC pain reliever before hand. If I had to have that again it would not stress me out or anything. You may want to call ahead to find out more about the specifics and wha tto espect and if you can take anything.

Good luck let us know how it goes.

  • Having a Dr. on "your side" is a great feeling!  I'm so glad that you had a positive experience.  I have not had a uterine biopsy, but I've had several colposcopies (cervical biopsy) and a few did cause some pain.  Take something before you go.

    Best of luck to you!

  • i haven't had that test....but want to wish you the best. Your doc sounds like a keeper!
  • That makes the biggest difference, I'm so glad it was a positive appt for you! I was under for my biopsy (I had a polyp removed too), so I couldn't tell you, but the saline us is a piece of cake, you just feel like your peeing on yourself. Good luck!
