Changing sleep situation

So hayden has slept in her car seat from day 5 and had slept 5-6 hours a night well now we have moved her to the crib and the last week she has slept 3-4 hours a night the most. And she gets up now twice a night instead of once...I'm starting to worry. I'm starting to lose sleep and it sucks. Any advice?

Re: Changing sleep situation

  • Not sure I can help because my LO is younger than yours so who knows if this will work for me in the long run, but, we are trying to transition DS from the newborn napper (an attachment on the pack n play, kind of like the cradle of a swing) to the flat part of the bassinet or co-sleeper.  He isn't loving it, so I'm only doing it for naps for now so that I can still get some decent sleep (4-5 hours at a time with one middle of he night feeding around 3-4am).  I'm swaddling him, rocking/swaying with him in the bathroom with the exhaust fan on, usually right after he's eaten - then I put him down in the bassinet, turn on the vibration thing and the white noise sounds, and I use rolled up hand towels wedged in on either side of him like sleep positioners.  All of this combined is making it so he is taking naps for 1-2 hours during the day and I'm hoping we can move him to sleeping flat this way soon.  As with anythign...it just takes time!
Also...my mom said not to EXPECT him to continue with the large chunks of sleep.  Just because they are getting older, doesn't mean they automatically sleep longer. She said it may come and go and it's all pretty normal.  Kinda sucks, but at least I know it's normal.

  • She might just need time to adjust being in her crib. Give her a few more days.
