Morning conversation with DH

Me: We have to go to Lewiston on Tuesday for dinner next week.

DH: For what?

Me: Brother's b-day

DH: So we aren't going this weekend?

Me: I don't think anything is happening there on Sunday

DH: Good we need to get work done around the house this weekend

Me glares at DH

DH: What, what is Sunday?

Me: A, my first Mother's Day!

DH: What, did you want to do something?

 

Grrrrr... I thought that I had a thoughtful DH but I guess I shouldn't expect too much. It would be just lovely to have a picnic in the park or go on an adventure for the day but instead I may be weeding

What?  You didn't know that on your first mother's day you are supposed to weed?   I feel your pain.  I'm probably just going to see my mom for a bit because i'm sure DH has nothing planned.  I told him I was planning to go see her, and all i got was, "ok sounds good."

I don't think they think much about it because you are not thier mother.  My DH didn't think about it until last year when Ty was old enough to take to the store and pick out a gift for Mommy.

oh I'm sorry.  that would be something dh would do.  i have been reminding him for a month that Mother's day is coming up.  he still has no ideas for me and hasn't gone shopping.

@Cutemin if it weren't for me he wouldn't remember for his mothers either. His whole family forgets bdays, mother's/father's day etc. I am lucky they remember things like Christmas.

@Jewels I don't need or want anything (I won't return anything either) Just that he does something. That we make a memory of it.

I hope my DH doesn't disappoint! He knows it's mother's day, so that's a start. He asked me to buy some steaks when I went shopping yesterday, because he wants to make dinner for us. We are going to my moms for brunch in the morning.

I know I'm getting a patio set (we are going to pick it out on Saturday) but I hope he at least helps Evan make me a card or something. Oh, and LET ME SLEEP IN!!! (I told him that's all I want)

That's exactly what I feel too...I just want DH to think about me and acknowledge me in some way. DH learned his lesson last year when I heard "i've been so busy...I just didn't get a chance to get you anything" And as with all holidays...I said I could care less what you "get" me - if anything. Write me a special note or something, anything! We spent the day with his mom last year...but man, he kinda heard it when we got home. But a week later we found out I was 6-7 weeks pregnant...which explains why I got so upset at him...hehe!

My first Mother's Day was kind of blah. I don't think it really occurred to DH to do anything. Plus the holiday has been tough since my mom passed away.

Charlie made me a really cool picture frame at daycare though! lol

DH asked me what I wanted this year. Honestly... I just want my baby! 

I hope you are able to have a fun relaxing family day
