Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Our newborn baby boy is LACTATING!

WTH. I don't remember ever having this happen with ds1. I know there is at least one other new mom on here that this is happening too. A quick search of google says that it's normal, but still very strange. Anyone else experience this?

The good news is: maybe he can learn to nurse himself at night, so that I can get some sleep....lol. I'm just kidding of course. :-)

  • My DD lactated a lot while I BF her.  She also had a rust colored discharge in her diaper from all my hormones while BF.  My DS hasn't lactated but I know it is normal.

omfg, i just laughed sooo hard

and yes, it's normal (it's from your hormones), the nurses at the hospital told me about it in case it happened so i wouldn't freak out :-)

  • Ours did that too... :)

Guess it's hormones passed from mama during pregnancy... our pedi said it would take up to 3 months for his man boobs to go back to normal:)

  • It hasn't happened to me, but I keept getting warned by EVERY SINGLE medical professional that it's common and not to worry.
  • this would be one new mommy with a lactating little boyy! lol i got nervous and found a lump under his breast and had the pedi look at it and it turns out it is breast milk he said not to worry it will dry up its just all my hormones that he got thru the umbilical cord! i was just in total shock i had no idea this could happen! =)
  • Yeah it is normal lol I saw it on king of the hill once and so i looked it up. It doesn't happen to all babies its just from all your hormones he got while in the womb.
