Babies: 0 - 3 Months

shots today, freaking out

I am so nervous to take LO for his 2 months shots. I don't know why I am so nervous. I am just worried how he will handle it.

He had a rough start with lots of needles, iv, etc and I just hate to see him in pain, crying.

Tell me to calm down!

Re: shots today, freaking out

  • Calm down!

Seriously, just prepare yourself for the fact that he will cry, but it will be over before you know it. DD had hers yesterday and screamed for the first time at the dr's office, but she was happy as a clam in her carseat 10 minutes later. She slept the rest of the day.

    Good luck!

DS has his 2 month appointment today and I was super nervous all day yesterday and this morning. I kept apologozing to him all morning for what was coming lol. It was pretty awful and I cried when he cried but I nursed him right after and he calmed down and he's pretty much been sleeping ever since. It'll be over in less than a minute and then you can all get on with your lives. Smile

  • I hate shots! But, my DD did MUCH BETTER with the 2 month shots than she did with the 1 month shots! If you can, ask if there is time to nurse or feed LO right after. That is what I did both times and it seemed to really help!

Be brave Mommy! You can do it! And, it will all be over very quickly!

  • you'll be okay! calm down! just make sure you have a bottle ready for right after with ds1 the pedi taught us this trick. right after the shots give the baby the bottle it seems to soothe and calm them down alot faster!!
  • we had ours on friday and my LO did great.

i was totally scared but all was ok.

    hang in there!?

  • I'm sure it'll be okay. My LO was not great with his 2 month shots (this past Friday). He screamed and cried and I think his little legs were sore and he ran a fever after. But now I know to have Tylenol at the ready and to be prepared for it with warm compresses too. I think it was more traumatic for me than for him. It is rough to see them distressed though! Good luck!
