Reflux mama's come in...

I have an appt for LO to see the pedi on Friday to discuss her having reflux and I want to know what to expect. So, my questions to you are:

What symptoms did your LO have?

How was your LO diagnosed?

Did you have a hard time getting your pedi to treat your LO for reflux?

How is your LO being treated for it?

TIA

Re: Reflux mama's come in...

  • My DS's symptoms were irritability during and after feedings, spit up/throw up everytime we lay him flat.  My pedi. had me first try to eliminate dairy for 2 weeks to see if that did anything.  When the symptoms progressively got worse, she then agreed to treat him with Zantac.  This all started around 4 weeks and has just begun to get a bit better at 8 weeks (at least the irritability).

  • My DS has severe reflux and has/had the following symptoms:

Gagging, spitting up a lot (8 times in 30 minutes), screaming crying when laid flat, wet burps, arching back, shooting legs out, squirmming while feeding, etc,

We took the list of symptoms to our pedi during his 2 week visit and he said, yep, that is reflux.

DS is taking Prevacid and Bethanechol. For some babies Prevacid is a miracle drug, but for DS it makes his reflux better, but he will be a spitter for a while.

Good luck to you and your LO.

Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

same except she aspirated Sunday so we are adding rice cereal to the bottles starting this week. GL!?

  • LO spits up very badly and sometimes a couple hours after each feeding, arches back, hard to soothe after feeding.  She had 2 upper GI tests done in the hospital and was also tested for pyloric stenosis.  After rulling out the above she was diagnosed with reflux.  So we FF with similac sensitive RS, she has 2.5mils of pepcid twice daily, she sleeps elevated at night in her bouncer or glider and is always elevated for atleast 30 minutes after every feeding and we do lots of laundry! HTH and good luck!
  • screaming during feeding, spit-up a lot, spit-up blood, irritability during eating, etc

Our pedi was reluctant to give us anything, but she did finally give us Zantac. She's on 0.6 ml of it and seems to be doing much better!
