F/U question to sunblock vs sunscreen

I never even realized there was a difference until I read that post! I was planning to get the Johnsons baby daily face and body lotion - spf 40. Anyone know which that is considered? I know I can go look at it at the store (targets website does not give specific info) Or are lotions with spf different all together?

ETA: Johnsons website calls it a sunscreen and says under 6 mo ask a doctor. Active ingredients are listed as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Those are the good ones, right?

Re: F/U question to sunblock vs sunscreen

  • According to the post below those would be the good ones but I would still talk to your pediatrician directly about this. He/she would have the most up to date information on sunscreen and sun block and his opinion on their safety for under 6 months ...(and I would like to point out that both are made of chemicals that soak into the skin even though they have different modes of action)...

  • I agree with the PP - check with the doc. If they approve they will tell you what is ok to use. My pedi said do not use it until LO is 6 months old.
