my midwives told me if my bleeding started to lessen and then starts up again it's my body's way of telling me to take it easier and slow down. and they were right - on the days i tried to do too much my bleeding picked up and then i'd take it easy and my bleeding would stop again.
(obviously it's hard to take it easy because there are things that have to be done... but the bleeding is such a PITA to me that i thought i'd pass this on in case anyone else finds the same to be true for them.)
Re: something I learned re: recovery
That was on my hospital discharge papers too - they said to resume activity as normal but a good rule of thumb is if the flow increases, you're doing too much.
My Bradley teacher said the same thing. I am going balls to the wall CRAZY just sitting around but sure enough, I'll have a super light day and will feel great so I'll do a few loads of laundry, the dishes, cook dinner, and the next day it's back to square one.
I'll be bleeding forever at this rate
