What could "Pippy" be a NN for?

At first I thought "Piper" but the beginining sounds are different.

    Not discourage you if you like the nn Pippy, but that was my parents' dog's name, it was short for Pipsqueak.

    If we have a girl, her name will be Penelope, and we will probably call her Pip or Poppy.

    It doesn't have to sound the same or even start with the same letter....ala Betsy or Libby being nn's for Elizabeth.
