PSA/Reminder re: monitors...

So, I turned off the base of my monitor the other day, but the receiver was still on.  I could hear everything that was going on in someone else's house...  Kinda freaky, because we used to always leave our base on and I wonder if anyone has heard us....

Just a friendly reminder, especially if you have other families with small children around - turn off the base when it's not in use = )

    That is so freaky.  They talk a lot about that in Baby Bargains and that it can affect your wi-fi and also your cordless phones.

    Are you talking about the part in the baby's room?  Allie's does not have an off/on switch and just plugs in.  It is plugged in behind her crib and is hard to get to so it stays on all the time...is that bad?

    We turn the one in our room off every morning.

    If our receiver is on and the base isn't it beeps loudly indicating that there's no signal so we usually always have the receive off if we're not using it.  That being said, I guess if there were a neighbor close enough with thier base on (and on the same channel) maybe it wouldn't beep and we could hear them too.

    This reminds me of the episode of Modern Family where Mitchell and Cameron could hear the neighbors on the baby monitor.  I love that show.

    We have never turned our base off.  It is upstairs and we are only up there to lay JH down.  We always turn the receiver off in the mornings.

    Yeah, our base always stays on too b/c it doesn't have an on/off switch and it plugs in behind his armoire.  What's super freaky is to SEE another baby on the monitor!  OMG...that has happened to us a few times and it FREAKS me out!
