I need some help. We want to switch to cloth diapers asap, but I'm not really sure where to get started. Can anyone give me a list of what I will need to start? Or at least point me in the direction of a website with this information?
Daycare used a diaper out of our first pack of baby drys yesterday and LO had diaper rash by the next change. This was all the push we needed to decide to make the switch. Well...that and my mom telling me that there is no way I can CD because it is too much work. She did it, but I won't be able to. So now I have to be successful at it because I am stubborn like that! Any tips and tricks you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Moms who CD
I'm hopping over here a little early! I think Green Mountain Diapers has a great site, lots of info and pictures. A lot of ladies also recommend Jillian's Drawers (I think that's the name) as a website to look at.
In my opinion, I would start with a "trial pack" of diapers that a lot of sites sell. That way you can see what you like best before ordering. We personally use a mix of bumGenius 3.0s and prefolds with Thirsties Duo and Bummis Super Whisper Wraps. HTH!
Personally we love BumGeniuses (I'm currently working on switching our entire stash over to them) We have about 8 all in ones and 2 Flip shells with about 6 extra inserts. But, like I said, I'm working on switching out some other styles to just BG's We also have a wetbag for the diaper pail and one for each diaper bag. Plus homemade detergent.
https://www.clothdiaperblog.com/ is a great resource. also, I like shopping at kellyscloset.com, also a great resource with lots of good information, reviews and perks.
HTH
Good luck!!
Thanks so much Ambsies. That was a lot of information and I know it had to take some time to put it all together. I am ordering the trial from Jillian's now!
Other than that - go for it. It's WAY easier than people say. We do the wash every 2 days and it's not a big deal. My day care has never used them before and they think they're pretty easy too.
