if you've rented a carpet steamer?

how do you empty the bottom tank (where the water/cleaning solution goes) if you didn't use it all to clean the carpet?

I have this Rug Doctor steamer from Safeway and I have to return it soon and it has to be cleaned before I return it.  I can clean all the other parts, but I can't get to that bottom tank and I can hear that there's still water in it.  I can't find anything in the paperwork about how to empty that tank if there's still water/cleaner in it.

annoying.
