Sour milk ?

I have some organic 2% milk that has just started to sour. Any ideas of anything I can do with it? Or should I just dump it? I hate to waste it... this is the first time I've had milk last long enough to sour.

Re: Sour milk ?

  • You can generally substitute it in recipes calling for buttermilk.  some recipes even call for 'sour milk'.  You might try looking on www.recipezaar.com for those.

  • Buttermilk biscuits. NOM.

  • What a great question.

After a quick search I found that people use it in cooked dishes just fine!  Some use it in biscuits, pancakes and other breads too.

I'm thrilled to know this as I have had this happen on more than one occasion.  We go in cereal spurts here and you never know.

  • I use it all the time in baking!  I even purposely sour milk sometimes for different things.  I have recipes in the blog.

  • yep, just bake with it.
  • Thanks ladies! I have herb bread in the bread machine, scalloped potatoes cooking and tomorrow I'll make pancakes to finish off the sour milk. I had like 51/2 cups.. yikes! Glad I could use it up still.
