Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Waking up at 5:45am - do I let him cry (ferber style) or let him get up?

Waking up at 5:45am - do I let him cry (ferber style) or let him get up?

further details...

he is only waking once or twice in the night - when he rolls over and can't get back on his side.

he doesn't want to eat when he gets up (he will sometimes wait an entire hour before he seems hungry - if offerred a bottle he will usually take it)

on the weekends we bring him into bed with us (weekdays I'm up and getting ready by 5am) where he sleeps until 7:00am

he always naps on the way to his g-mas (where he goes while I'm at work)

What do you think??

  • Anytime after 6a I get up with DD.  In your case because it's so close to 6a, I would probably just bite the bullet and get up.  DH and I sometimes put DD in a playpen in our room and she plays for about 20-25 minutes very contently while we go back and lay down.

  • What time does he go to sleep?  How many hours is he getting a night?  How are his naps?

If everything seems normal regarding how much quality sleep he's getting, I'd say that he's just an early morning bird!

  • If it's been 8 hours I would get up.
  • I'm facing the same problem... only my DS gets up at 5:15!  He's in bed between 7-7:30.  I've tried adjusting his bedtime up and down and have had no luck.  It sucks.. especially on the weekends!

This. DD woke up 5-6 am for about 4 mornings, but has been back to her old 7-8 am self. It'll probably get better.
