Work Share CSA?

Has anyone ever done one of these before?

I found one locally to us, and we'd get a $150 discount for doing it instead of just joining the regular CSA. I think that it would be wonderful to work on the farm, and actually help in producing what we'd be eating.

Re: Work Share CSA?

  • I think if you had the time, it would be a great experience and option for getting a discount. The farm we thought about doing a CSA with (we're not doing one though) had that option but you had to do 1 work share per month for a total of 6 man hours I believe. So that would be either DH or I out there on a Sunday for 6 hours or both of us for 3 hrs and we'd have to find a babysitter. Plus, they don't like to work Sundays anyway, so it wasn't going to work for us.

Regardless, I think you could gain a wealth of knowledge and also feel good about helping.....plus, the discount is great!

See that's the thing, DH is home with me all week long until Thurs night. We can go up any time basically. It's a minimum of 6- 4hr shifts during the season. The season is 20 weeks. :) I can't wait.
