I read on a previous post several of you guys who like Premier.
I am currently with Loch Haven (just had my very first visit) and was surprised to hear they do not perform a early ultrasound--- in fact, they only do one ultrasound at 20 weeks unless you opt for the 1st tri screen.
Maybe I am just being a nervous first time pregnant woman but it seems that many other OB's take more of a proactive approach and do perform an early ultrasound for accurate size and dates, and to make sure everything looks good.
Can you guys tell me if Premier does this? Or does anyone know of an OB who does the early ultrasound?
Thanks for the help!
Re: OB/GYN question
My OB does an ultrasound at 8 weeks and then again at 12 weeks. Of course they also do one at 20 weeks. THey have the ultrasound machines right in their office so if you have any complications or worries, they do them whenever. The practice is OB/GYN specialists, offices in Winter Park, Oviedo and Dr.Phillips.
Just a thought...if you can't change doctors, you could always rent or buy a heartrate doppler. It's a machine that you can track the baby's heartbeat. It will give you a peace of mind, if anything:)
I went to Loch Haven and I love them. They don't do the big ultrasounds in their office, that's why they don't perform earlier ultrasounds there. They send you downstairs or someplace similar that works through your insurance based on a medical need, and most insurances don't say its required until 20 weeks. That said, I did get an in office U/S at 12 weeks from Dr. Crider because he "couldn't find the heartbeat" on the doppler. I think he just said that so he could to the u/s for me. It was not as good quality as the Radiologists downstairs (FRI) but it was great to see on the screen.
I'm sure if you say you have cramping or spotting or something they could say its a "necessity" for you. I know my sister pulled that at Loch Haven and she got one earlier than 20 weeks and another one later at 30something weeks.
I really liked all the doctors at Loch Haven and I saw every one of them at one point during my pregnancy and then in the hospital during my 3 day induction.
Sorry, I hope you find what you're looking for, but it might depend on your insurance more than the drs office.
