Adoption

sorta random question

we had G's newborn pictures taken by a local photographer who takes part in the Celebrate Adoption program (PSU posted about it below for more info on that) anyways she just emailed me and said an adoption agency wants to use some of G's pictures for an advertisement brochure they are putting together for the agency and asked me if that was ok....normally i would be competely fine with that, falttered even :) but they agency is not the one we used to adopt G so I feel uncomfortable about his pictures being in an advertisement for another agency (both our agency and the one wanting the pictures are 2 of the more common in our area) not that adoption agencies are competetive really, it just seems weird to me....what would you do?

Re: sorta random question

  • If you're comfortable with showing the pictures, (which I assume you are) I would do it. You're right, it's not like it's a competition, it's simply "showing off" the beauty of a sweet, adopted child. Your agency didn't ask to use them and another did....*shrugs*...I see nothing wrong with that. It's not like the people reading the brochure are going to know the difference. Besides, I usually assume pictures in brochures aren't "actual" unless otherwise stated. I think it's fine and in answering your question, what would I do? I'd do it ;-) Best of luck and keep us posted on what you decide.
  • I think it's a little weird. But I'm pretty weird anyway. When we look at the websites for our agency and facilitator I always assume those are actual happy families or babies they have placed. I agree it's not a competition but I do feel loyalty towards the groups that led us to H.

  • My first thought was no way it unappropriated for them to want to use a picture of  a baby they did not even place. then on the other hand I thought adoption is expensive right. Make them pay you for the right to use them in order to help pay off your expenses. Just a thought! If they are paid off already then us the case for something nice for your baby!
