3rd Trimester

Never thought I'd post the "should I call but..."

Oh well.

Anyone ever have pain in the lower right side of their belly?  I get it off and on.  I got it lastnight while I was sleeping.  And I have it now.  It comes and goes but man, it hurts.  I can't decide if I shoudl call the dr or let it go away like I always do.

  • My first guess is RLP.  The weight of the baby can cause pulling/pain.

Yeah, I get it off and on pretty regularly.

  • If it's just one side I'd lay down and see if that helps. I had it bad last night...I could barely flip from one side to the other in bed...but it went away. It's likely RLP.
  • Ive called and gone in on 2 intense pressure calls, but deep down I knew it wasnt labor so I dont know why I even bothered... then I end up feeling lame and feeling like one of those girls that has their dr on speed dial and has seen the dr so much I personally paid for their next vaca... so IMO I'd just wait it out for a bit, GL!

Yes, this sounds exactly right.  RLP= round ligament pain.  Google and I bet you will find this is it.   I wouldn't call for RLP.

  • It's RLP. I get it too. I get it really bad when I'm in bed and i try to switch sides and it takes my breath away. Wish there was something to take it away but there's not.

  • Yes. I get it during the day when I'm trying to walk fast and pull a huge suitcase of product behind me. Sometime just when I'm walking fast. I took it as a sign that I need to slow down and pace myself.

  • I have this exact same thing...lower right side PAIN!  It's been so bad at times that I thought I might have appendicitis, but it comes and goes, so I asked my OB about it and she confirmed that it was likely RLP.  I started getting this pain around 20 weeks...it went away for quite a while, but for the past three days has been back in all its rage!  The pain is the worst when I am laying down, which makes for a horrible night's sleep!

I thought it was weird that RLP would be in one isolated area like mine is, but when I really focus on what the pain feels like, it really does feel like a pulled muscle, or something stretching....PAINFULLY stretching.  I would say at times, it gets up to about a 7 or 8 on a pain scale of 1-10, and I have a high threshold for pain.

I hope it subsides for you soon!

It actually is something stretching, the ligament holding your uterus in place is stretching like a rubber band and sort of snapping back.  Also a majority of RLP is felt more (or more strongly) on one side (usually the right).  Google RLP and you will see pics and descriptions that are helpful in understanding the pain.
