How much water is ok for an almost 8 month old?

Noah's been eating some puffs and yogurt melts and I figured some water would be good with it. Well, I filled up a sippy cup with water (so he wouldn't have to tip it so much) and gave it to him- he's never had a sippy before so I figured he'd just play with it and need my help to actually drink any. I turned around and he drank the ENTIRE SIPPY (eta: about 3/4 a cup)! Is that too much? I EBF so he doesn't usually drink water!

Indifferent

His next diaper is totally going to leak, isn't it? Ah geez.

  • After 6 months, its fine.  I don't think he would drink it unless he needed/wanted it.

    Time to add doublers ;o)

  • Our pedi says 6 ounces throughout the day.  Sounds like he had about that much.  I try to limit E to 4-5 ounces just to be safe.  He loves water too!

eta:  Hmm...our pedi told us 6 ounces when he was 6 months.  I bet he can have more now. I didn't think to ask at his appt on Monday.

I was wondering when this time would come. I think the nights of sleeping in a prefold are over, too huh?

Should I be offering him water on a regular basis? Now I feel like the poor thing is dying of thirst!

Could have just been a oh this is new.  You could just have a cup around for him, but not make it a big deal, kwim?

This.  I can't remember exactly when, but I'm thinking around 8-9 months we started leaving a sippy out for DS so he could drink when he was thirsty.
