Bra's...

Ok so I have a question for you ladies. So I was able to wear my regular bras for sometime, now they are getting to small and uncomfortable. I need to get a bigger bra, but I don't want to spend tons of money. So here's my question... should a just get a normal bra or go for the nursing bra's already? What did you guys do?

Re: Bra's...

  • I just went to Target and got normals bras.  I figure I dont know how much more they are going to grow etc. so I did not want to spend a lot on them.
  • Seeing that you are only 14 weeks I would go just for regular bras because you boobs might get bigger.  I was originally a 34C and quickly grew to a 34D so I went to Target and just got some regular bras.  I am now a 34E and switched to maternity bras for the support.  I know I will probably have to buy more before this pregnancy is over.

  • Target bras are pretty good/comparable to more expensive ones and were around 10 dollars last I shopped (last weekend). I bought three of them in larger sizes...but now they feel too small...just a warning. Things shift quickly.
  • Ugh! I don't want them to get any bigger, but I know they will. Thanks for the sugestions! Regular bras it is!

  • I'm getting regular bras as well. Especially if I'm still going to be growing.

  • I'll just preface this by saying that I started out rather big (38DD) - so Target or VS bras never worked for me. I have always had to go to department stores and buy good bras with really good support - so, I did no differently with pregnancy.

I went to Belk, told the measuring specialist how far along I was (just went 2 weeks ago, so I was about 18 weeks), and what size bra I had on. She measured my rib cage (just under my boobs), did some calculations on how much bigger she thought I would probably get, and then gave me two options. I could either go with a 40DD and have a solid fit now, or go with a 40DDD and wear it on the tightest setting for now, and gradually have to adjust it as I got bigger. She recommended Lilyette brand for full-size figures, but in a minimizer. The minimizers actually have more support than regular bras. Also, minimizers have solid bands, rather than elastic (which of course allow the fabric to give and not hold you in place as well). The bras were on sale and I paid about $22 each for them. I got a black and a white - and expect that's all I'll do for the remainder of my pregnancy, before I switch to maternity bras close to the end. They fit amazingly well and I feel great and well supported. Plus, since they are minimizers, I don't feel as huge as a 40DDD!

So, I whole-heartedly recommend getting good bras and going to a place where they can measure you and give you good recommendations. Speaking from a woman with big-boob experience, having a shotty bra can cause back pain, neck pain, and all that leads to frequent head-aches. It's just not worth it to save a few bucks...in my opinion.

  • I'm holding off as long as I can but it's gtg very tough! Just sucks to waste money on bras I'll wear for so lil time & then never wear again after. Sad

  • I asked this same question last week! :)

Go for bigger bras - cheap ones (I literally just got back from Target for this purpose exactly!). This was the majority of the advice that I got, and to not get nursing bras til close to delivery cause boobs are just gonna get bigger... and they're pricey...

    Good luck!

That's the bra I got. I really like it because it is stretchy in the cup and gives me a lot of room to grow, without having to buy a new pair. I got this at 8wks, and am now almost 17 and it still fits great and is super comfortable.  I know it's a bit expensive but the truth is, if you want it to fit great you have to pay for it! Sad but true (I'm now a HH so going to walmart isn't really an option anyhow).
