2nd Trimester

Swollen, swollen, swollen...

ankles and feet...carpal tunnel in my hands. 22 weeks and 5 days pg.. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the swelling to subside? I drink nothing but water, and they are still swollen. Btw I have a docs appt tomorrow. But he told me at my last appt it was prb just the heat...Im starting to worry that it is more than that...

Re: Swollen, swollen, swollen...

  • I was super swollen at 34 weeks to the point I could barely walk.  They kept telling me to keep my feet up over my heart, but that's damn near impossible to do.

Cut down on salt, as much as you can.  Talk to your doctor for sure.

  • I get really swollen in my feet, ankles, hands and face... and its not even hot here yet :(

I have soaked them in really really cold water, doesnt take it down 100% but enough that it doesnt hurt and I can get my wedding ring off. I hope this helps for you as well, and that it is nothing more !

  • Thanks. Im really trying with the salt intake...I was on a rampage for a while..Smile

With my son my feet became swollen at the end like yours around 34 or 35 weeks, but with daughter has me walking around like a beach whale. LOL Just concerned it could be something serious.

Ive never tried that...but I will. I try to keep them elevated, but that doesnt seem to help much...

  • Swelling CAN be something serious, which is why its good you are going to your doc.  I am not trying to scare you, because most times it ISN"T serious, but still good that you are going to your doc.

  • @ Lisaohgee- I totally agree. Ive done some reading up on it, and of course all that does is scare me half to death. This has been going on for a while but in the recent days its been really bad. Dad has been rubbing my feet every day and even he is scared something is wrong. Thank goodness for monthly OB appts!!
  • My doctor recommend I get fit for Jobst Stockings. They're really unattractive, but under long pants they're not noticeable...and I can see my ankle bones again!

I would love to see my ankles again! Where would I get some of those?
