question about paint

I'm so over the color in my living room. I really want to change it. What do you ladies think about painting with a 6 month old around? I would have to paint the living room and the hallway where the bedrooms are. Do you think the smell is too strong?

My plan was to take Nico to my parents during the day while we painted but then bring him back over at night to sleep. He has not stayed the night at my parents yet, not because I don't want to, but because I'm still BF'ing and he usually wakes up sometime between 4-6 to eat. I'm lazy and would much rather wake up to feed him than wake up to pump if he's at my moms.

I don't think it's a good idea unless you use low or no VOC paint which can be pretty pricey.  We're still not done painting at the house and it's because I haven't helped at all and I didn't move in until the master bedroom paint was completely dry.  DH still has to paint the baseboards, the doors, doorframes, and two rooms.  I think he's avoiding it b/c he doesn't want me around the smell.

You can paint with low or no VOC paint. We just bought the paint for baby #2's room and will be painting this weekend. We got "Olympic" brand from Lowe's and it wasn't much more expensive then the regular stuff (I think we paid $12 for a gallon). My OB said that it was fine, just keep the room ventilated. There is no smell either.

DH and I painted Alexis' nursery together when I was like 8 months pregnant and we used a low VOC paint.

Thanks for the tip!  All the ones I've seen online are expensive.
