DH thinks it's a waste of money, but I'm kind of on the fence. Just wondering what your thoughts are of getting pregnancy & belly pics before LO arrives?
I'm just taking weekly pics at home. DH has been laid off for over a year (just had two job interview this week so cross your fingers and send a prayer up for us) so we don't really have the extra money to be spending on things like that. I think they're really cool and I've thought about it, but I just don't see it happening.

Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress. Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage. Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm. 27 days in the NICU. Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely. My tough little cookie.
We are on the fence. I am just not sure I will actually use them or anything. And I refuse to spend the money on quality pro pics when they will just collect dust.
Yeah, I'm going to save my expensive pics for the baby. Also, I'm not thrilled by the way I look right now. So I'll just get family members to take a few good pics and that's it.
I'll just be in any candid photos that are taken in the next 20 weeks or so. We're going to try to have our wedding photographer take some newborn pics when our LO arrives. I'd rather pictures of her anyway!
I always love the way they look, but I know I would never display them. My husband and I are going to forget about belly pics, but I do want to get newborn pictures taken.
I always kind of cringe at professional pregnancy photos (in particular, thinking of those topless ones with strategically placed hands/scarves).. so I will not be doing this.
However, my MIL is a photographer, so I'm fairly sure this pregnancy will not go undocumented.
I might like to if we had the extra money for it, but right now it would just be an unnecessary expense. Plus I would rather have a family picture done after LO arrives
none for me, thanks. i will be in a wedding in another two weeks, and spending a week with family, so i'm betting i will get some nice candids out of that. i remember being a little weirded out by my husband's stepsister's belly shots, and i just never found it very appealing.
I didn't do them with my 1st pregnancy. I just took weekly belly pic myself (just like this time). The only reason I'm having maternity pictures taken this time is becuase I'm having a friend come visit me when I'm 33 weeks and she's getting into photography and she wants to take them for me. I'm not paying for them though.
I find pregnancy pictures to be weird as is. I also hate to have my picture taken. I didn't even have a professional take our wedding pictures. So, no, not going to have them done.
NMS... I can't see us displaying the pictures in anyway so there wouldn't be much of a point. I plan on getting professional pictures of the baby because these are pictures we would display and send out to friends and family.
I searched online and found some poses and such I liked and am having my MIL take some- she's amazing with a camera. Even if she wasn't though i'd have a friend take them.... that way there's also not the pressure of paying for them if I don't like them!
They're not really my style and I certainly can't afford to pay for them. My sister's a photographer and if she were to come for a visit, I'm sure she'd insist on a session...and I'd agree and probably love them after all (she's really good). But, I wouldn't want bare belly or nude shots. I've always wondered what people do with those pics???
It would be a waste of money for us. I'm sure they would be ooh'ed and ahh'ed over once then go in a photo album for eternity never to be looked at again.
I figure I'll wait until after DS is born to do any professional photos... Then I'll hit the gym, get some rock hard abs, and make DH a pinup calendar with a girl even I would want to look at! (ME! LOL)
We were going to have them done but then realized the cost was way too high. and how often are you really going to look at them. Instead im getting my sister to take some photos of DH and i in front of my parents garden. we have a really good camera, so even though they wont be professional, they will be nice.. and free.
I didn't last time but I had a friend take some of me. I am glad that I have them and am putting them in DD's baby book. She may enjoy seeing them. This time around I may get some with DD kissing my belly or something.
If we do anything, BIL has a great camera and took our engagement pictures for us for free, and they turned out really nice. We might ask him to take a couple pictures of DH and I together, but nothing elaborate and definitely not going to spend any money on professional pics.
We're not. I think they're great, I just don't want to spend the money on them. We are major penny-pinchers, and I honestly can't see me framing pictures of me pregnant and putting them on my living room wall after LO is born. To each their own, it's just not for me. I am taking my own pics periodically though.
I'm not doing them. I don't necessarily think they are a waste of money, but I would much rather have newborn professional pictures. Last pregnancy I had my girlfriend take a few and they actually came out really nice!
Considering our wedding photos are in the attic collecting dust right now, I probably wont so these don't suffer a similar fate. I've seen other people's and they look nice. I just take weekly belly pictures in hopes of someday getting some time to make a scrap book.

I'm popping over from third tri....
We didn't do them but took some ourselves using the self timer on our camera. If you want to look at them, they're on my blog: https://kellysblueyonder.blogspot.com/2010/03/true-blessing-from-god.html
It was really easy to do and we had a lot of fun. Good luck with your decision!

We are tight on money since I'm going to stop working soon and we could use the money in better ways. Plus they really aren't my style.
you did a great job!
NMS, each to their own though.
However sexy lingerie style ones posted on FB are never ok. Please for the love of God, don't do this.

Weekly, or whenever I remember pics at home.
We considered it a waste of money that we can spend on real baby pictures after he's born.

... maybe not! lol
Probably not, I'll probably be doing the self timer, with DH (that is if I can get DH to participate with me)
But most likely be doing my own.. (hey using a self timer is cake! I did that a lot for pictures when DH was deployed)
