Multiples

Did you know or have a feeling it was more than 1?

I am going for my first u/s tomorrow and for some reason I have this overwhelming feeling/nervousness that it's more than 1 baby in there. DS is 22 months now and I don't ever remember having this feeling when I was pg with him and I didn't get a u/s with him until 12wks.

Just wondering if you ladies 'knew' before you actually found out via u/s. I am just getting myself all freaked for no reason I'm sure.

  • Not the faintest inkling.

  • I "knew".  I even told my mom en route to our weekly yoga class before I was pregnant (after I had a m/c) that the next time I was pregnant I was sure it was going to be twins...
  • No clue.  And we didn't find out until our big u/s at @ 18 weeks, so it really was a HUGE surprise.

  • completely surprised at the ultrasound - still in shock.
  • I had no clue, if I didn't see it on the u/s screen I wouldn't of believed it.  You could of picked me and DH's jaw's up off the floor after he told us.

  • I had a very strong feeling, but that's because we put two embryos in and I had very high beta numbers. GL!

  • nope....we had joked about it...but i never seriously thought we would have twins!
  • Yes, totally!  I kept thinking it was something every preganant woman thought about - the possibility of twins.  There was no reason to really think that, especially since mine are identical which is completely random.  But from day 1 I had this weird thought - what is it's twins?  I imagine telling my mom that it was twins, and I was even thinking about names in pairs.  So who knows!  Maybe it's your mommy intuition!
  • Didn't have a clue. If we hadn't had that early u/s I would still not have a clue until our 18w u/s at the end of May. Still in shock, but loving the idea!

  • I had a very strong feeling that I was having twins - so strong that I was totally unsurprised at my ultrasound.  I clearly remember the morning before my ultrasouund, thinking about how old my kids were going to when my oldest started kindergarten, and thinking, "Okay, the twins will be 2.5."  I had to seriously tell myself, "Get a grip!  You are not having twins!"  Very weird!!  I know that's not the norm, and most girls on here felt exactly the opposite, but there may be something to your suspicions.  Let us know :)

  • Not at all....until the drive to our first OB appt at 8.5 weeks.  I had been dealing with hyperemesis (not officially diagnosed at that point).  DH said "what if it's twins?" as the reason I was sooooo sick. I contemplated the possibility for about 5 minutes then pushed it out of my head.  Sure enough.
  • About a week after I found out I was pregnant I had a dream that I went in for an u/s and that there were two sacs.  The next morning I told DH and he totally just laughed at me.  Basically a week later I went to the doctor and got an u.s and sure enough there were two sacs.  It was just like my dream!
  • I absolutely had a feeling.  I don't even know how to explain it, but I just knew.  The night before my first U/S, I was googling "twin pregnancy symptoms" and I had them all!

I was SO sick so early on and my hormones were out of control!

I even said to the OB before she started the scan "As long as there is just one in there, I'll be ok"

    Guess what???  lol

  • not a clue. i still look at them and ask them, "TWO babies??"
  • I kinda thought it was twins. The triplet things blew us away. I still feel sorry for that poor ultrasound tech........my reaction was that of a true crazy person!
  • Seriously, I didn't even believe I was really pregnant. After all the negative tests seeing a positive one was just crazy unreal. I knew there was a possibility of multiples (like 8%) so the thought was in the back of my head, but when I saw the two peanuts at 6 weeks I was like "HOLY SH++!"

  • Twins maybe, we put 2 embryos back. Never in a millions years did we ever think quads.

To be honest I never thought both stuck I really thought we were having a singleton.

  • I had a feeling it was twins...told my sis and DH and they said I was insane!...a day later went for the u/s and surprise!!!! (I was still VERY shocked!)

  • I would like to think that I did but I don't think so.  In fact, I was really wrong, because I had dreams that I was having triplets, two girls and a boy.  I think it was because my brother-in-law was teasing me about it.  In the dream I was frantically running around trying to take care of three babies and doing so VERY unsuccessfully.

Then a few weeks later I found out I was having identical twins and I was in complete and udder shock.  At about 19 weeks I found out they were girls.  Then I started to worry.  I still worry occasionally that I will walk in and they will tell me that there is a third in there, but I know that this is near impossible. (Doesn't mean that my irrational fears don't stop).

To all of you triplet mommies out there I have to say that I am VERY impressed by you.

  • Never crossed my mind.  We found out at 11w during an NT scan.

the chances of this (identical triplets, and a fraternal twin) even with a blastocyst transfer/placement is still uncommon. Especially the triplets... i don't know what the percentage is but you must feel very unique and PROUD!

  • No clue.  My "instincts" told me I was having 1 boy and we had twin girls!

  • I was very sick with my secpnd pregnancy.  Not just throwing up, but so sick that I couldn't eat.  My first sono was at 8 weeks and about two nights before I ask my husband if he would be ok with twins.  Then, on the way to our appt., he called his mom and told her he had a feeling I was having twins.  This may have crossed my mind though b/c my mom is a fraternal twin!
  • I had no clue whatsover.  Nothing they said would have shocked me more.  I got a scan at 13/14 weeks b/c of spotting (I had a low lying placenta it turned out, that has now corrected itself).  I was preparing myself for hearing that I was miscarrying....not that I was having two babies.

Me too. I kept telling DH that "what if we have twins, I have this feeling" then we brushed it off since we don't have any twins in our families and then I told my mom the same thing the day of my u/s and she laughed. She told me to be sure that I tell her that it's "only one!!" when we return from the u/s....what a shocker. We still can't believe it and I keep looking at my u/s pics! Totally spontaneous for us!

  • I had this feeling all along, but tried to talk myself out of it. Guess I didn't because at 10 weeks the U/S tech said, "There's two in there!" and I turned to my husband and said, "I told you so!!" :)
