I try and hit the museums on free days. DD loves Museum of Science and Industry, Field and Peggy Notebart. Peggy Notebart has an awesome butterfly haven that she is fascinated by. And surprisingly, the free days are not that crowded if you get there early.
Have you been to Lambs Farm? They have a lot to do for toddlers.
Monkey Joes- various locations, Cosely Animal Park- Weaton ( perfect for toddlers - they can walk it), Pirates Cove - Elk Grove, Schaumburg Library- saturday story time, Wild West Town, Dupage Childrens Museaum - Naperville
My kids love these places
