I have a pretty good stash of newborn CD's and covers so I thought I would be set. I had SO bring my stash to the hospital today and discovered that most of them are huge on LO! There is no way he's going to fit into them for at least several weeks. He's a relatively good sized baby at 7 lbs 12 oz and 22 inches long (he was originally measured at 21 inches but they re-measured him tonight). He's long and lean.
I have some preemie prefolds (for 2-8 lbs). They fit and will continue to do so for quite a while. I have some Rumparooz Lil Joey's (for 5-12 lbs) that are still a little big on the smallest setting. Everything else is too big - including proraps newborn covers, BG AIO's xs, and thirsties fab fitted xs.
Any rec's for preemie CD covers? I'm going to pick up more of the preemie prefolds here in town so I'm only looking for covers until he grows into my stash.
Re: Preemie CD cover rec's?
I used a lot of wool at first.
I found that the thirsties did work even though they seemed huge. I just pulled them up (over the cord even, but it stayed dry as the diapers didnt' touch it)... and then I crossed the tabs over. They worked

Bummis
Our boy was 4 weeks premature and we were worried he wouldn't fit. We bought the NB Bummis (5-8 lbs) and he actually fit them until he was 12 lbs so we didn't feel like it was a waste to buy the smaller size. He also evidently has very small hips or something because he's in their small size now (8-16 lbs) and at 14 lbs the tabs are still overlapping in the front.
Where in town are you going to buy the cds?
I was going to volunteer some of my nb stuff to see if they'd fit, but it sounds like what I have you also have and it's not working.
Thanks! I think I'll order a couple of preemie proraps and newborn Bummis. I have some Amazon store credit that I can use to get them which is awesome. I'll have SO try using a Thirsties cover today. I didn't even try them as I thought they would be bigger than the proraps.
Pixy - I can get the preemie prefolds from Little Fox Diapers. There's no store which is kind of a bummer. It's a cloth diapering mama who sells some stuff out of her house. When I was first considering CDs she showed me the ropes. I went over to her house and she explained all the different types of diapers and their pros / cons. She's super nice.
If you want something that she doesn't have she can almost always order it for you. You can pick up at her place (near Horsetooth and College if I remember correctly) so you don't have to pay shipping (which means buying local from her is usually cheaper than on-line since there's no shipping). Clothes Pony in Old Town has a few CDs too but their selection is very VERY limited. They do have Rumparooz though (including Lil Joeys).
