first ultrasound went well!

I had my first ultrasound today. All went well! Baby is measuring about a half inch, good strong hb (150bpm). Saw head, arm buds, leg buds and the heart beating.

Only downside was when I was getting my blood drawn, I passed out! I warned them that I'm not good with needles and after they filled the 4th vial I got tunnel vision and lightheaded. I told them I was going to pass out, they told me to relax and breath, I told them again, leaned my head back against the wall and passed out. ugh!! DH thought I was going to throw up. I woke up pretty quickly but felt awful. There were about 4 or 5 nurses scrambling around me and they moved me into another room with a recliner. I had some OJ and pretzels and was feeling better about 10 minutes later. They didn't seem concerned about the baby, so I'm assuming all is still good. Not the appointment I was expecting, but I'm glad that the baby is healthy!!

I'll post an ultrasound pic as soon as I get it scanned.

Yikes!  Glad it's over for you and ended up going well.  I'm usually fine with needles, but I think after 4 vials just about anyone would get woozy!

Congrats on hearing a heartbeat!!!  Is it pretty common for them to draw 4 viles of blood at the first appointment?  Just trying to mentally prepare myself.  I was diagnosed with PCOS and had to get 7 viles drawn...talk about a major shock!!

They said the first time they always draw the most, so whether it's 4 exactly at your dr's office, I don't know, could be 3 or 5. either way...lay down!

ohh passing out during a blood draw is never good! but hey, at least you didn't pee yourself - i did that once. next time, tell them you have a tendency to get woozy and they'll let you lay down. much easier! glad your ultrasound went well, though. :-)
